What Happens During Auto Detailing on your Edmonds Vehicle?

auto detailing edmondsKeeping your car looking beautiful is a great way to stay excited about it and look forward to getting behind the wheel every day. There are all kinds of ways to stay on top of your vehicle’s maintenance but detailing is incredibly important. Knowing what happens during auto detailing can help you understand why it’s so crucial.

Deep Cleaning

When you take your car in for detailing, it will be deep cleaned both inside and out. The detailer will remove any dirt or scuffs from the exterior panels and thoroughly clean the upholstery and carpet in the interior. This can take your vehicle’s look to the next level and help prevent permanent damage.

Paint Repair

If your paint is chipped or scratched, a professional detailer will most likely be able to make some minor repairs. They’re highly experienced in matching paint colors and providing seamless transitions. Not only will this make your vehicle look its best, but it will also keep rust and corrosion from forming.

Wheel and Tire Rejuvenation

Auto detailing extends beyond simple cleaning and washing the car itself. A detailer will also rejuvenate the wheels and tires, making sure they look as close to new as possible. This way, you get a completely finished look that is as close to showroom quality as possible without having to buy a whole new car.

Why Get Auto Detailing Before Selling Your Car in Edmonds?

auto detailing before selling edmondsWhen selling a car, you want to make sure it looks its best and that you’re putting its best foot forward. Having a professional work on it is a good way to get eyes on it and make a quality sale. Here’s why you should get auto detailing before selling your car.

Better Photos

When you get your car detailed, the photos you post will look as good as possible. This will give you a better chance of making a sale and will attract the buyers you want.

Higher Value

The better the curb appeal is for your vehicle, the higher its value will be to buyers. Getting the car detailed before selling allows you to set a higher price. By making sure it looks its best, you can ask for more than you would if you tried to sell it as-is.

How Auto Detailing Can Increase Your Car’s Performance Near Edmonds

auto detailing edmondsWhen trying to increase the performance of your vehicle, you’ve probably heard of all kinds of methods and tips. However, the cleaner your vehicle is, the better it will perform and the less likely it will be that you will run into issues on the mechanical level. Knowing how auto detailing can enhance your vehicle’s performance can help you make it a priority.

Cleaner Engine

If your car’s engine is going to run at its absolute peak performance, it needs to be as clean as possible. When you get your car detailed, everything will be thoroughly cleaned, including the engine compartment. This will help your engine run efficiently and ensure that no dirt or debris is gumming up the works.

Water Resistance

Keeping the exterior of your vehicle protected is an essential part of enhancing its performance. During detailing, the final finish will be waterproofed to make sure that no moisture gets into the vehicle itself. This will help prevent things like rust and deterioration, which can severely impact the performance.

Better Tires

Auto detailing doesn’t just include the panels and the interior of the vehicle, it also includes the tires. The condition of your tires will have a big impact on how the car performs and handles. Clean tires will feel much more responsive and will last a lot longer than tires that have been neglected.

Benefits of Auto Paint Restoration in Lynnwood

auto paint restoration lynnwoodYour vehicle’s paint is an essential part of the exterior, but it does more than just make your car look its best. Making sure the paint is in good shape will help preserve your vehicle and keep it running for as long as possible. Knowing some of the benefits of auto paint restoration will help you decide if the time has come to rejuvenate your vehicle’s exterior.

Structural Integrity

The paint on the outside of your car has more to do with its structural integrity than you might think. If your paint isn’t in good shape, your car could develop rust and deterioration on the exterior as well as on the interior frame and components. With a good paint restoration, you can be sure rust doesn’t develop.

Increased Value

If you want your vehicle to retain or increase its value, paint is one of the best ways to do that. By restoring the paint on your car, you can increase its overall value and help it keep its original beauty. If you’re looking to sell your car soon, paint restoration could be a great option.

Keeps Original Look

Classic car owners are sticklers for original parts and components. However, paint is just as important and in some cases, original paint colors may not be available. If this is the case, auto paint restoration could be your best choice for restoring your automobile’s original look.

Lessons on Restoring Your Alloy Wheels in Woodway

alloy wheels woodwayIf you have alloy wheels, you know they add a far more stylized and polished look than standard steel wheels. To keep that shine, learn how to clean these wheels the right way.

First, What Is Alloy?

Alloy refers to a combination of two or more metals. Most alloy wheels consist of magnesium, nickel and aluminum. Aluminum is far better protected against rusting or corrosion than standard steel wheels, guaranteeing that your investment will stand the test of time.

Next, What About Cleaning?

First, remove dirt and brake dust using your hose with a high-pressure nozzle. Next, spray the wheel with an alloy wheel cleaner. You can purchase these at your local auto shop. They’re non-acidic to protect the wheel’s polish. Only spray one wheel at a time. Using a soft-bristle brush, scrub away any remaining dirt, then rinse the wheels and towel dry.

Finally, How Do I Make Them Shine?

Some people wash and wax their wheels using the same wax they use for the rest of the car. Others use a premium metal wax. Either works fine; just be prepared to do a lot of rubbing for the shine to manifest.

How to Remove Car Stains from Upholstery in Lynnwood

remove car stains lynnwood

The spills and stains in your car can become embedded in the fabric of your upholstery. The longer you wait to treat them, the harder they are to remove. So what can you do to remove car stains–gum, lattes’, makeup and melted candy– from your car upholstery in Lynnwood? Following are some simple, straightforward tips that will help.

Baking Soda

Pour ¼ cup of baking soda in a small bowl and mix with warm water and apply it to the area that has the stained fabric.  Using a toothbrush, rotate it in a circular motion so the bristles can work the stain out. For more difficult stains, let the solution seep into the stain for a half-hour before you scrub it. Dampen a clean cloth and use it to clean away any residue.

Club Soda

Pour club soda into a spray bottle, then spray it on to the fabric of the car seat. Use a scrub brush to deepen the soda into the fabric and loosen the dirt. Then use a clean towel to wipe away any remaining moisture.

Vinegar

Combine one gallon of hot water with one cup of vinegar, then add a little dish soap. Apply the solution to the stain and let it seep into the fabric. Use a soft brush to scrub the area. Then, pour a small amount of warm water over the scrubbed portion to remove the soap. Use a dry microfiber towel to wipe away any remaining moisture.

Don’t Fall for These Four Car Washing Myths in Lynnwood

car wash lynnwood

Washing a car isn’t rocket science. At the same time, it’s also not as simple as rinsing and scrubbing. For best results, don’t fall for any of the common car washing myths that can keep you from really having a clean vehicle.

Myth #1: You Can Wash the Car Anytime

You can certainly wash your vehicle anytime of the day. However, we don’t recommend a car wash immediately after driving the car. The same goes if the car is parked in direct sunlight. The car surface will be hot, meaning water will dry faster, leading to more pronounced water spots.

Myth #2: A Shiny Car Is a Clean Car

A car can be sparkly yet still be dirty. Run a finger over the car’s surface. If it’s really clean, it will feel smooth like glass. If you feel small bumps, dirt still lingers. You’ll need to use a clay bar to remove stubborn dirt and debris before applying wax.

Myth #3: Wax Lasts for Five Years

Irrespective of what the manufacturer claims, no waxing lasts for five years, or even a single year. Environmental conditions determine how often you need to reapply wax. We recommend wax and polish every three months, or twice a year at a minimum. Waxing is an integral part of the restoration process.

Myth #4: Only Wash Your Car When It’s Dirty

You should wash your car at least twice a month and not just when dirt is noticeable. Dirt and dust accumulation, even when not overtly visible, can erode the wax and damage the paint’s finish.

Be Wary of Car Washing Myths

For a car wash and detail done the right way, bring your car to Henry’s Auto Detail. Using tried-and-true methods, we keep your car looking like new. Don’t fall for car washing myths that deliver subpar results. Contact us today!

How to Get Sand Out of Your Car in Lynnwood

sand out of car, car sand

With summer in full swing, this means fun trips to the beach. Of course, the beach means sand, which ends up in your shoes and clothing. This transfers to your car’s interior. So, we’ll explain how to get sand out of your car and how to prevent long-term staining.

Prevention

Of course, prevention is the best remedy. Consider placing a blanket over the seat. Also, be sure the floor mat is properly positioned and not sideways or curled up. Also, brush off all sand from your clothes before getting inside.

Clean the Sand out Right Away

As soon as you can after you arrive home, remove the mats and seat covers. Shake everything out and vacuum over the surface. If you wait too long, the sand can embed itself deeper into the fabric, causing discoloration. At this stage, removal will require professional vehicle detailing.

Removing Sand from the Exterior

Remove sand from the exterior of your car, too. Sand may contain salt residue, which can scratch and corrode the paint. We recommend a thorough car wash using osmosized water.

Be sure to wash the hard-to-reach areas, such as the wheel rims and wheel arches. Salt residue easily accumulates in these areas and can cause rust on the metal surface. We suggest using a wheel wash brush. Arrange for a full wash after a trip to the beach or any coastal area. This includes a wax to protect the surface.

If you can prevent doing so, refrain from driving directly over sand, especially wet sand.

We Can Get Sand Out of Your Car

Sand may seem harmless and easy to remove, but it can cause quite a bit of cosmetic damage. After a trip to the beach, bring your car to Henry’s Auto Detail for a restoration. We can get sand out of a car and divert potential long-term staining and rusting.

How to Remove a Car Dealership Decal from Your Edmonds Vehicle

car dealership decal edmonds

Car dealerships place all sorts of decal ads on their vehicles. The dealer doesn’t always remove the decal when you make a purchase, leaving you to do the job. Without the right technique, trying to remove the car dealership decal can be a pain. We’ll show you the right way to remove a dealership decal.

Site Preparation

Wash the decal and the surrounding area. This doesn’t require any fancy techniques or cleaning solutions. A simple mix of water and soap will do; this step doesn’t require an entire wash and wax. This process eliminates particulates that can damage the paint as you remove the decal and adhesive.

Removing the Decal

You’ll need a heat source to soften the adhesive behind the decal. A sunny day may suffice; otherwise, just aim a hair dryer at the sticker.

Next, slowly peel away the decal. If the adhesive is still too sticky, use a tool, such as a spatula, credit card, or even a string of floss. If the sticker still isn’t coming off, then consider using an adhesive remover.

Keep in mind that some decals may be more difficult to remove. Those consisting of a single large shape, such as that of a bumper sticker, should be no problem. However, others, like those in the shape of numbers, may be trickier.

Getting Rid of the Residue

Once you remove the decal, you still need to remove the adhesive residue. Leaving the glue in place attracts dirt or debris. Plus, the residue is often visible up close, making it an eyesore. Again, we recommend using some sort of adhesive remover like Goo Gone. Just follow the instructions on the label.
