Taking charge of your fitness in 2021? You might find yourself drinking more protein shakes in the car, on the way to or from the gym. A protein shake stain in your car requires a specific method for effective cleanup. Here are some quick tips for drivers in Snohomish County.
Protein shakes and other beverages can leave unsightly stains if not dealt with in a timely manner. For starters, it’s a good idea to keep a roll of paper towels in the vehicle.
DOs and DON’Ts for Protein Shake Stain Removal
This multi-step process is acceptable for other protein stains – including dairy products, baby formula, vomit, urine, and sweat.
- DON’T use spray upholstery cleaner; this can actually make the problem worse.
- DON’T use hot water!
- DO use paper towels to remove as much liquid as possible, as soon as possible, and remove stuck solids with a blunt knife.
- DO use cold water to soak and blot up as much of the stain as you can. For dried stains, use an enzymatic soaking agent.
If possible, remove the fabric and machine wash in cold water with an enzyme-based detergent. Caution: avoid the enzymes if the fabric is silk or wool.
You may not be able to fully remove protein shake stains that have dried. In this case, a vehicle detailing professional should be contacted.
